Brief
Customizable skincare is here!
This was a packaging design project for a Packaging Collaboration class with Graphic Design students in RIT. I, along with Graphic Designers- Grace Kominsky, Hannah Gross, and Xinyi Li have worked to propose the brand Vieno skincare system to our client Chase Design for it to be sold at Target.
"Create a unisex skin care system that covers a majority of skin types and design a display shelf for Target that effectively communicates this system approach to the shopper to minimize confusion."
Benchmarking
Product Ideation
All of us worked together to generate as many ideas as we can. We then put our ideas into four categories. These categories include- Easy Accessibility, Sustainability, Informational, and Aesthetics.
Concepts
Product Line
Here is our final product line consisting of three kinds of product categories. These categories include the Base powder, the additive powder, and the Vieno jar. Our goal was to make the packaging Elegant, beauty-like, and informational.
Base Powder
Solutions for different skin types!
There are three unique base powders for three different skin types. They are- Oily skin, Dry skin, and combination skin. These contain elements like Dimethicone, Glycolic Acid, Vitamin A, Shea Butter, and Petrolatum.
Additive powder
Solutions for specific skin problems!
There are five additive powders that get mixed with the Base powder. The packaging of the additives is inverted to differentiate them from the base powder packaged to minimize confusion. These additives allow the user to tackle specific skin problems, such as Dark spots, Acne, aging, and sunscreen.
Vieno Jar
A sustainable way of skincare routine!
The unique feature of Vieno skincare is that any container can be used to create the mixes. Vieno also sells container jars that can be reused for a very long time.
Easy to create!
Vieno customization requires very few simple and easy steps to create the formulas.
1. Pick your preferred Base & Additive powder. 2. Pour Base powder into Vieno Jar. 3. Pour Additive powder into Vieno Jar.
4. Mix water 5. Mix it up with a stick. 6. Apply

Endcap display
We were also tasked to design an end cap shelf for Vieno skincare to be displayed at Target. Some of our objectives for this display shelf were to make it informational, easy to follow, and ergonomically comfortable for standing and handicapped people.
Ideation
Ergonomic study
We have asked a range of different users for their feedback on our full-scaled mock-up. The goal was to improve the usability of the users when they are interacting with the end cap. This study helped us figure out the dimension that is comfortable for all users.
6'0" Male
5'0" Female
6'2" Male handicapped
Final Design
"Informational"
"Simple"
"Easy to follow"
"Accessible"
"Comfortable reach"
"Beauty-like"

How we all contributed
As the only Industrial Designer, I contributed to the research, benchmarking, Product Ideation, concepts, packaging layouts, and product steps. I also worked heavily on End cap display Ideations, concepts, renders, measurements, material research, ergonomic studies, measurements, and in-context renders. As Graphic Designers, my teammates have also worked on research, customer observation, interviews, Branding of Vieno, product ideation, concepts, product packaging and mock-ups, TikTok tutorials, end cap ideation, and end cap graphic layouts.
