Commemorating a hundred-year-old Oaktree!
In the Spring of 2019, I had the opportunity of getting involved with a fabrication team that would allow me to leave my mark at RIT. There was a hundred-year-old oak tree that toppled in a windstorm back in 2017. Soon after, All the Industrial Design students participated in a competition called “T-minus”, where students had designed something that commemorated this oak tree. Wyatt Coe was a junior ID student when he and his team won the T-minus competition. He immediately started working on fabricating these benches to be installed at RIT. I got involved in this project in the second phase. Check out this video and scroll down for the process images!
This presentation was made by Wyatt Coe and the design team.
My involvement in the Fabrication!
I was involved in the second phase and learned so much about construction and manufacturing, User testing,  Mold-making, mounting brackets, and the mixing process of Portland cement, aggregate, and black dye. Wyatt Coe, Hunter Mccluer, Jimmey Antonelli, Sam Hollasch, Matt Kurkoski, Richard Yu, Sophia Velasquez, and I were part of the fabrication team. Here are some process images. Enjoy!
Thank you!
