Taro

Taro is an inclusive gaming controller that allows both one-handed and two-handed gamers to play games, without having to use any uncomfortable gaming positions. It also relieves the gamers from Carpal Tunnel and allows for more flexibility.

What is Inclusivity?
Inclusivity is allowing equal access opportunities to people who otherwise might be excluded. An inclusive product is not labeled towards any particular group, but it allows equal opportunities to as many groups as possible.

Games are for enjoyment, and enjoyment is for everyone!

Even for one handed gamers!
The Problem
There are about 3 million gamers worldwide, and among these 3 million gamers, there are many who sometimes get left out of the enjoyment of playing games together with their friends or family, just because how existing controllers are designed! Dual handle controllers are mostly not inclusive towards people with disabilities such as- One handed gamers! Which is why, these one-handed gamers get uncomfortable playing with these controllers normally.
Imagine, a one-handed person being with family or a friend group, gets left out of gaming and enjoying the moment  because...
The gaming controllers require two hands to play. It would be very upsetting.
"So how can we make a gaming controller more inclusive towards people with disabilities while keeping it comfortable, ergonomic and aesthetic?"
Inspirations
This inspiration board helped me explore different features that could make the controller more appealing to the user.
Ideation
Ideation
Different User Experience were explored in order to allow the target users the best experience.
Concepts
From the ideation, three concepts were narrowed down to help reach the final idea.
Mock up models
Initial user testing!
I tested the initial mockup model with different demographic people such as, One handed gamer and two-handed gamers. This phase helped me gain feedback on the form and usability of the controller.
Refinement
Refinements
The feedback from the users helped me refine the controller.
Prototype models
Final user testing.
I also tested the final model with gamers. This helped me refine the overall measurements and improve the user experience of the controller.
Prototype observations
1. Handle needs to be a little smaller.
2. It needs to fit smaller hands.
3. Need stronger magnets

Functionalities
Use as a regular controller.
Gaming just became slicker!
The regular gamers have gotten a slicker, and sexier controller, that focuses on aesthetics and comfortability. It's unique CMF design appeals to the gamer's personal preferences.
Use only one handle!
Inclusivity reimagined!
The One-handed gamers are able to comfortably play games with only using their hand. With the additional button sets, the One-handed gamers are able to compete with two handed gamers pretty swiftly.

Use both handles separately!
Say Bye to Carpal Tunnel.
The user can also use the two handles separately, if they wanted. It is useful, just so they can relax their arms but still able to interact with the controls, comparing to having to fix their arms in one position. Thus, it will prevent the users from experiencing Carpal Tunnel and Muscle Cramps.

Enjoyment unlocked
Enjoy, you deserve it!
With TARO controller, no one will ever feel left out of joyous activities. It allows both One-handed and two-handed gamers to be competitive with each other.
Thank you!!
