Losing longevity
Precision cut knives has many shortcomings that affect the flow of user’s work. These include, Bad Blade grip, lost safety cap, and they are dumped very soon. The current precision craft knives are lacking in Longevity.

Inspiration
Lipstick Mechanism.
The twist retract mechanism was highly inspired from the lipstick mechanism, where the user would just twist and retract. So, in order to test out the concept, I dissected a lipstick and accommodated an Xacto knife to see how it works.
3D Printing
Form and Function!
Prototypes were 3d printed for to achieve accurate measurements. It was first printed in PLA material. After that it was printed in a much more durable material SLA. These studies helped figure out the final dimensions for each piece.
Observations
These prototypes also helped in user-testing for different hand sizes. Thus, finalizing the dimensions of the Helix piece as it is necessary to keep it within reach of index finger and thumb.
Snap-On Mechanism
In order to get a strong grip for the blade and easier replaceability, the blade lock needed to be flexible. So, I 3d printed the lock in FDM Flexible resin material, which worked perfectly. The user would just pull the lock back in order to replace the blade safely.

Features
No CAP!
Safety cap is not required.
SLASH has a unique Twist retract feature that allows the blade to go all the way into the Barrel of the knife. This allows the blade to go all the way into the barrel and thus no cap is needed for safety. It also does not roll on a flat surface.
Storage
Storage for easier access.
SLASH has built-in storage that allows storing multiple blades for easy access. It has easy blade replacement feature where the blade snaps on to the holder. Blade grip is much better due to the Snap-On feature.
Compatibility
The Snap mechanism is compatible with other blades!
How was Product Longevity achieved?
Sustainable Materials like ABS Plastic makes the product more durable and last longer. The unique features create an emotional connection with the user, for which they will hold on to the product for a longer period. As it is also compatible with other blades, it would allow the user to stick to only this knife, rather than buying new ones.
